Space Invaders Extreme (PSP) 5.5 out of 10 ...

I’ll make this review about as short as each sitting I had with this game. There’s not really a lot here, certainly nothing to write more than a page about. This is Space Invaders, a game from 30 years ago. For that very reason you probably thought this game wasn’t worth your time. All I ask is that you give it another look.
Upgrades are the name of the game in this long-awaited sequel. From regular breaks in the action by warps to four welcomed power-ups, Space Invaders Extreme is more than what you were probably expecting from the title. It seems simple at first, but once you boot this thing up, you’ll realize just how revamped it is.
The music sounds like something you’d hear from Lumines. I personally love Lumines, so that worked with me right from the get go. The gameplay enhancements are plentiful as well. The UFOs that you hit now allow you to warp to special bonus stages with requirements like destroy 20 invaders in 10 seconds, to destroy one guarded invader in the same amount of time. There are also power-ups here and there, all capped off by invaders that juke so hard, they can actually give Barry Sanders a run for his money.
This game belongs on a portable system, and it’s nice that you can just bit the power button on your PSP and get right into the action from where you left off. It’s not a shooter revolution or anything, but it’s something you should try out if you have video game ADD like myself.
