1August 25 ... Braid Review (9.5)
One day in August of 2008 the online gaming community was amazed if not astonished by a gaming wonder. A game by the name of Braid hit the Xbox Live Arcade for the unheard of price of $15. Most people look at the fact that it costs 1200 Microsoft Points to buy and simply scoff at the product, but a free demo is something that just about anyone will try out. And try it out I did.

1August 21 ... Chad's Soul Calibur 4 Review (9.5)
This is the game that I’ve been wanting to play ever since I played Soul Calibur 2 on the original Xbox. Since SC3 was a step back graphically, I could never really get into it while there were other fighters out there like DOA4 that just blew it away (at least in my eyes). SC4 came out with much fanfare, and instant bickering over the system-exclusivity of certain Star Wars characters. Yoda appears in the 360 version, and Vader for the PS3.

1July 10 ... Mike's Metal Gear Solid Review (10)
Here on Headshot Radio over the past year, we’ve been hard on the Playstation 3. We’ve called it names, mocked it, and even have gone on record saying that there is no good reason to own one if you already have an X-Box 360. Sure, it was the way to go if you wanted a next generation movie player, but there just was not a game that could justify such a large purchase. It’s now safe to say that after nearly 18 months, the PS3 finally has its reason for being created, Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4).

1July 4 ... The World Ends With You Review (7.5)
The World Ends With You (TWEWY), the quirky new IP from RPG master's Square Enix, is yet another delightful, that is right; delightful, edition to the quirky DS library. I have to admit that I am very happy with Nintendo's decision to bring games like this, Elite Beat Agents, Proffessor Layton, and Cooking Mama over to US shores. Without these oddball titles, the DS would be a bit of a wasteland of kiddie games, which was the fate of its predecessor, the Game Boy Advance.

1July 3 ... Chad's Metal Gear Solid 4 Review (10)
Rarely does there come a game of this caliber. I don’t need to go into incredible detail about how amazing this game is. In fact, you’ve probably already read lengthy reviews about this game, so you know how great it is. I don’t think anyone out there has given it a “bad” score, and my review is no exception.

1June 30 ... Ninja Gaiden II Review (6.5)
It pains me to give this game the score that I’m about to give it. This score does not a bad game make, but…it doesn’t a great game make either. And believe you me, when I scored this game, I had to go back to my previous reviews just to eliminate any type of bias I might have, or love for ninjas

1June 15 ... Mario Kart Wii Review (8.0)
In the past couple of months or so, my Nintendo Wii has been more worthless than usual. Chad and I haven’t been able to sustain a Smash Brothers match and I’ve been busy with my other systems. Luckily, there is a game that came out recently that has allowed me to dust off that cute little white box and actually slip a disc in it. If you are fortunate enough to find a copy of Mario Kart Wii (it seriously took me a month to find it to rent) ... then you should get ready to have a G-Rated blast.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1June 10 ... Dragonball Z: Burst Limit 360 (6.5)
This is it, this is the game that I’ve been waiting for ever since the current-gen systems were launched. You’d better believe that I was there on launch-day to buy this thing. Dragonball, on my Xbox 360… in HD? What could be better? Unfortunately, a little bit more polish, and at least half a year more for development would have been just what the doctor ordered.

1June 4 ... Ratchet and Clank: Future Tools of Destruction Review (8.5)
Ratchet and Clank is a series that in my personal opinion has more or less run its course. When this one first hit shelves for the PS3, I didn’t think much of it because I was already playing Mario Galaxy, which in my opinion is THE platformer to beat right now. Although Tools of Destructions doesn’t best it in a lot of ways, it certainly does when it comes to visual presentation.

1May 17 ... Space Invaders: Extreme (PSP) 5.5
I’ll make this review about as short as each sitting I had with this game. There’s not really a lot here, certainly nothing to write more than a page about. This is Space Invaders, a game from 30 years ago. For that very reason you probably thought this game wasn’t worth your time. All I ask is that you give it another look.

1May 16 ... Everyday Shooter (PS3/PC) ... 8.0
Everyday Shooter is a game that came out late in 2007, and offered a breath of fresh air to all the PS3 owners who were starving for good games to play. As far as downloadable games were concerned at the time, the only ones that were worth downloading were Super Stardust HD, and maybe Calling All Cars if you were really desperate. Then came along Everyday Shooter (Just this month, the game also released on Steam, allowing PC owners to get in on the fun).

1May 15 ... Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword Review (6.5)
I personally waited for this game for about forever and a day before I got the chance to actually sit down and enjoy it until the end. Unfortunately, the end of this game is at about the five or six hour mark. The game takes place just after Ninja Gaiden Black/Sigma, but you’ll hardly notice or care, as the story isn’t the main attraction in Ninja Gaiden games.

1May 15 ... Derek's Lost Odyssey Review
Lost Odyssey, though often antiquated in its gameplay mechanics, is one of those rare games that tugs at your heart, and by the end of the 60+ hours you spend with Kaim and his friends,  you find yourself wishing for more, and you will probably have shed a tear or two.

1May 14 ... Special Asian Culture Review
Japan is king of a couple of things. In the 90s it was king of the video game, and apparently before that it was still king of “the game” as we’ll call it in this review. Today I’d like to have a candid conversation with you about Japanese culture. Before video games, there were carnival games. I’m convinced that Japan loved these so much that as a country, they decided to create the hardest game of all…

1May 14 ... Ikaruga Review (9.5)
Ikaruga is the kind of game that will divide the gaming crowd into two different categories ... those who can have fun with this game even though it is incredibly hard ... or those who think it sucks because it is incredibly hard. So the thing that we can all agree on ... this game is incredibly hard. However ... for me ... that doesn’t stop me from enjoying everything about this game.

1May 13 ... Mario Kart Wii Review (7.0)
Mario Kart has been around since the SNES. The last installment for both the DS and Gamecube proved to be a little too hardcore for a casual gamer to really excel in. Enter Mario Kart Wii, a game where anyone can win, no matter how many years you’ve been playing video games. Because this game has been out for over a month in Japan, I’ve been able to play for a decent amount of time and really judge whether or not this game is all it’s cracked up to be.

1May 7 ... Super Smash Brothers Brawl Review (9.5)
What was that game that came out in Early March for the Wii? It was a pretty big one ... Oh yeah ... Super Smash Brothers Brawl! If you are an avid listener to the podcast ... than you know that we covered Super Smash Brothers Brawl at length ... and that it even helped make the series #8 on our best games of all time list. There is a reason for both ... this game is fantastic.

1Apr 23 ... Wil's PC Orange Box Review (9.5)
First, let me say that if you have a PC, you need to get this game. It is the best valued game for the PC, even at the full price of $50. There are 7 games that are a part of this package. Half Life 2, Half Life 2 Episode 1 and 2, Half-Life: Lost Coast, Team Fortress 2, Portal (Game of the Year 2007), and a demo version of Peggle called Peggle Extreme. I have played only about half of the games thus far, so I will go through those for now and the rest as I finish them.

1Apr 9 ... TiQal Review (5.0)
I’m a self-admitted puzzle gamer. I like all sorts of games, but for some reason puzzle games just seem to find their way into my collection. Before I know it I’ve got more than I know what to do with. When TiQal by Slapdash Games came out on XBLA, I was surprised because it came out of nowhere, plus I didn’t know how to pronounce it. To be honest, I still don’t know to pronounce it.

1Apr 9 ... Mario Party 8 Review (6.5)
If you have ever sat down to play a game by yourself that people have said is good, only to say to yourself, “this game really isn’t that good.” Then you have no doubt played Mario Party 8. But this game does have more to it than meets the eye. While only 8 year olds can really appreciate this game for what it is, a collection of 50 -75 mini games, and still have fun, I can say there were parts of this game that I enjoyed.

1Apr 8 ... Earth Defense Force: 2017 Review (7.0)
Earth Defense Force 2017 (hereafter referred to as EDF) is a game that I had never even heard of until I started playing it. Just the title alone sounded cheesy, but I tried to go into the game without prejudging it. I soon found out that the game had a two-player co-op mode, so I played with a friend of mine, and I’m really glad that I did.

1Apr 1 ... Kane & Lynch: Dead Men Review ( 10 )
Listen ... I know what you’re thinking ... but I really don’t know why everyone was giving Kane and Lynch the crap that it was getting. It’s got a stigma about it all because it’s the game that cost Gamespot’s Jeff Gertsmann his job. First of all ... that is just a rumor that is most likely untrue ... and second ... he was a big fat loud piece of crap who needed to shut up anyway. He ruined the Hotspot every week he was on it ... sorry but I digress.

1 Mar 28 ... Chad's Heavenly Sword Review (6.0)
The Playstation 3 hasn’t exactly had a huge library of fantastic games to show off in its young life. Fewer yet, are those that are PS3 exclusives. Thankfully Heavenly Sword came along and not only stood in that small group of PS3 exclusives, but also as a graphical centerpiece for the system.

1 Mar 24 ... Chad's Lost Odyssey Review ( 10 )
Lost Odyssey for the Xbox 360 is a game that most people either love or hate.If you’re a fan of any of the Final Fantasy games, this should be an easy purchase. If you like Western RPGs however, this may not be such an easy recommendation. The game should have the Final Fantasy name attached to it to be honest, because it plays almost exactly like one, and a lot of the great minds behind the FF series like Sakaguchi and Uematsu decided to lend their expertise to this massive four-disc title.

1 Mar 22 ... Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Review ( 6.0 )
Resident Evil is my favorite video game series ... from the first game the story hooked me and I’ve played almost every game since. These games have run the gambit for me in terms of enjoyment ... where Resident Evil 4 is at the peak and Resident Evil: Outbreak is in the basement. Now I rented Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (RE:UC) because I heard that there would be story revelations along with good light-gun style combat. After playing it ... this game falls between them ... slightly closer to RE: Outbreak.

1 Mar 14 ... Mike's Lost Odyssey Review ( 9.5 )
I got excited about Lost Odyssey when I heard it was more Final Fantasy XI then the actual Final Fantasy XI was. As I was walking around Gamestop, I saw that if you pre-ordered Lost Odyssey, you got some bonus content. Naturally, that was the next logical step for me. Lost Odyssey is a 60 hour traditional style Japanese RPG ... and while it doesn’t break the mold ... it nearly perfects it.

1 Mar 12 ... Derek's Mass Effect: Bring Down The Sky Review ( 7.5 )
So the first of the promised Mass Effect DLC has arrived in the from of an additional side-quest... Cough. I have to admit I was very wary at first, because the majority of the game's side-quests were pretty bad (I obsessively did them all anyway, just because I loved the game and wanted to extend it). Luckily, "Bring Down the Sky" packs a little more punch than most of the side-quests found in the original retail game.

1 Mar 9 ... Mike's Big Brain Academy Review (5.0)
I rented this “long ago” Wii title in hopes that it might be something that my parents would like being that they are really enjoying the stuffing out of Wii Bowling. (I used that analogy in honor of their ages ... which are their early 60s) As it turns out ... Big Brain Academy is a little much for them beyond the Easy difficultly. But parents aside ... the question is ... how is it for the 15 to 40-something crowd? The answer is average.

1 Mar 6 ... Chad's LOST: Via Domus Review (5.0)
Lost is a fantastic series that just keeps getting better and better with each episode. Somewhere along the line, the idea of a Lost video game was brought up, and thus Lost: Via Domus was born. For the curious, Via Domus is Latin for “the way home”. If you don’t remember that now, you will after playing this game since Locke reminds you about 200 times.

1 Mar 3 ... Chad's Single Player COD4 Review (7.5)
The Xbox 360 is absolutely littered with countless first-person shooters, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is yet another that joined the fray late last year. This is a game that sits apart from the crowd though, as it has a handful of things to offer that other shooters just don’t seem to get right.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 Mar 3 ... Eric's Call of Duty 4 Review (9.0)
On its surface Call of Duty resembles many of the other modern warfare games that are released these days. One thing that I learned quickly while playing this game is that it is anything but ordinary. The production value of this game rivals many mainstream movies.

1 Mar 3 ... Chad's Triggerheart Exelica Reiview (7.0)
Triggerheart Exelica (hereafter referred to as Triggerheart) is a tough game to review. You really have to look at it from two different standpoints, twitch-shoot ‘em up players, and your everyday gamer. I’ll post a review score for both camps at the end and explain a little more throughout the review about why I had to split this review.

Devil May Cry 4 was a roller coaster ride for me. At first I wasn’t a big fan ... after awhile I was having a great time ... then I got pissed at turn the game made ... and finally after it was all said and done ... Devil May Cry 4 (DMC4) turned out to be an impressive and fun game.

1Feb 19 ... Chad’s Rez HD Review ( 2 out of 10 )
Rez started with a good idea called Panzer Dragoon, and ended up with what should probably be the training scenario for an old Atari 2600 game. Maybe in 1985 these types of games would have caught on, but in 2008 all that can be said is that this game is right up there with Yaris ... except you don’t have to pay for Yaris.

1Feb 18 ... Mike’s Poker Smash Review (8.5 out of 10)
The fundamentals of Poker Smash are the same as Planet Puzzle League (PPL) … you move blocks left and right in order to match colors to clear them, and then move cards around to try to chain your clears. However … that is where PPL stops and Poker Smash picks up.

When I first saw screens of Omega 5, I thought it looked amazing. It looked like a throwback to those good ol’ 2D days. Now that I’ve finally gotten a chance to spend some time with it ... I think I may have found the best single player game that XBLA has to offer.

1Feb 10 ... Derek’s Poker Smash Review ... ( 10 out of 10 )
Poker Smash is the best puzzle game on XBLA, and that's saying something considering the presence of Zuma, Puzzle Quest, and others. I even venture to say that with its feature heavy package and great take on a classic formula, it may be the best thing going on XBLA, period. Basically it takes the already great concept of the game Planet Puzzle League, and twists it.

1Dec 15 ... Chad ’s Super Mario Galaxy Review ( 10 out of 10 )
Super Mario Galaxy (hereafter referred to as SMG) came bustling through late in 2007 and blew away all expectations. To put it plainly, no game has done what this game does. And this game does just about everything that it does well…exceedingly well.

1Dec 15 ... Derek's Mass Effect Review ( 10 out of 10 )
My personal Game of the Year (narrowly edging out the exquisite Bioshock), Mass Effect is, regardless of medium, a science fiction epic on the same playing field as the original Star Wars trilogy. Bold no? But it is true. From the memorable characters to the always different and epic combat, and even the nerdy optional exploration, this game delivers..

1Dec 6 ... Mike's Guitar Hero 3 Review ( 8 out of 10 )
Guitar Hero 3 is a damn solid game … and I honestly didn’t see it coming since GH2 and GH:80s were suspect. GH3’s tack list is probably better than all the other games combined. Songs like “Talk Dirty To Me,” “Slow Ride,” “Welcome To The Jungle,” and “Rock me Like a Hurricane” are awesome as expected but there are songs like “When You Were Young,” “Cliffs of Dover,” and “Pride and Joy,” came out of nowhere for me.

So right away this game had a ticking clock attached to it … and it will be one of the few games I didn’t beat before I reviewed it. But let me state this … after putting in 12 + hours into the game … I’ve got a pretty good idea of what it is … and I liked it.

1Sept 9 ... Chad ’s Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Review ( 9 out of 10 )
This game is very much unlike any Zelda games of the past. Although it picks up right where Wind Waker left off, the only thing that those two games have in common is their art-style. Speaking of visuals, the DS incarnation pulls off a childish, wide-eyed Link much better than the Gamecube did.

Right off the bat the game was a blast and it only let up a couple of times during the game. At times the enemies were repetitive ... but the game makes up for that with pure fun in game play. It is genuinely a blast to kill enemies in this game because of the two minions you command.

Ok ... while I was at my local EB Games (only a minute from my apartment ... scary) ... I was debating on whether or not to get Puzzle Quest or Planet Puzzle League as I wanted a time waster for my DS to take the place of Pokemons.
