Hey Michigan Sports Show fans ... I've got some exciting news.
I contacted media relations at Joker Merchant Stadium (spring training home of the Tigers) ... and I think they're going to hook me up with a real press badge when I got up to see the Tigers take on the Pirates.
I haven't interviewed anyone since High School broadcasting ... but I think I'll be able to handle it.
I do have a couple of questions for you guys though ...
1. Who would you like me to try get an interview with other than Bobby Seay?
2. What would you like me to take pictures of? Is there anything about Joker Merchant Stadium you're curious about?
You can post them here or e-mail them to MichiganSportsShow@gmail.com

Hey ... just as I type up the last post ... I look and see that the Wings have finally won another game!
4-0 against the Avalanche ... great team to break a losing streak against.
However ... Lidstrom got pretty banged up on a hit in the 1st period.
He is going to have his knee examined on Tuesday to see if it's any worse than a sprain ... but even then he'll probably be out for a couple of weeks.
This is not good for the Wings blue-line who are already short Rafalski and Kronwall! Looks like the Wings are going to have to depend on the young guys to help out in front of the goaltenders or try and get some veteran help at the deadline ... Rob Blake anyone?

What is wrong with the Red Wings?
They’ve lost 6 in a row for the first time in God knows how long ... and they’re making the teams they are playing look much better than they are. I’ve spent this season telling the masses how watching a Red Wings game is unlike watching any other team in the league because they don’t let the other team have the puck.
That has not been the case recently. The defense has looked slow ... the goaltending has been shaky ... and the offense is stuttering. The problem with this is that all these things are happening at once. If only one or two these occur ... the Wings may still be able to survive ... but all three? With the Wing’s 0-1 loss to the Stars on Sunday ... the Stars are now within less than 10 points of the Western Conference’s top spot.
Is this fatigue from going at such a breakneck pace for so long?
Is this because of the injuries to Cleary, Kronwall and others?
When will the Wings turn it around?
I thought this would happen sooner or later ... because the Wings were just playing so well and everything was going their way ... I figured they would run into a hard time eventually. I’m just happy that it’s happening now and not in April. Hopefully the trade deadline will put some new life into our boys in red and spur some energy and good play.

It is that time of year again. But we are still in a lull until the rest of the team reports. I want to throw out these questions...How will the Tigers finish in terms of record and division place, how many total runs do you think they will score, and how deep will they go in the playoffs (if they make it at all)?
I made my statement that they will finish the year as the World Series Champs!!! ;D I see it like this, first in the division, 105 wins, at least 1000 runs scored (which is 7 per game) and all the way baby!!! Heck Yes! Tell me what you think.

I didn't start listening to this game until the Preds were already up 3-0 ... and with Dustin's assurance that Howard was starting ... I though he was the reason the cats were already up 3-0. It turns out that it was my pick to start in the playoffs, Osgood, that let in the three goals.
I went back and watched the highlights (if you can call them that) and in the 15 years I've been following hockey ... Babcock did not pull Osgood because of poor play ... he pulled him to send a message to the team.
The defense was playing without energy and they hung Ozzie out to dry on all three goals. Now I'm not trying to defend Ozzie so much as I'm trying to point out how poorly the defense is playing in front of him.
So the question is ... do you think this loss is on Osgood's head or the defense in front of him?

I was thinking this morning about my favorite moment in Michigan sports. And I said to myself, "Self, what is the other MSS listeners, and pod jocks, favorite live sports moment. If the "Live" is not clear enough, I want to know what game you went to that you will never forget and why. Mine came on May 11, 2007 when I got to take my daughter, Alexis, on her 7th birthday to see the Tigers and Twins at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
During batting practice, we were behind the plate and I was pointing out to her the different players. I said to her, "there is Pudge, and there is Curtis Granderson, and there is the manager Jim Leyland." He must have heard me, because he turned around, saw us in our Tigers shirts, and waved at her.
The look in her eyes was a look of joy, and after that, anytime there was a baseball game on, she would see if it was the Tigers, and if it was, she'd yell at me no matter what I was doing. She will then look specifically look for Leyland, and say there is the coach...he waved at me. It is very cool. That is my favorite "live" moment. How about you?

In this week’s episode of the Michigan Sports Show ... Dustin, Mike, and Dustin talk about the Red Wings’ recent skid and what they need to do to right the ship. They go over the potential trade deadline moves the Wings should make to help fill the void of Cleary and Kronwall going down to injury.
They also talk about the Pistons running wild through the rest of the NBA and compare this year’s team to the Championship team of 04'. Finally they conclude with a little Tiger’s Spring Training talk and the hype that’s this team is bringing.

I thought it would be fun for everyone to tell who your 2008 Tiger is ... you should pick a player and give a reason why he is your Tiger. Let's see who the most popular cat on the team is!
My Tiger is Justin Verlander.
He's my Tiger because he just blew me away in his rookie season with his arm, control, and composure. The guy has a live arm and he pitches like a seasoned vet. And when he got that No-Hitter ... it sealed the deal for me. That's why a have a #35 uniform and wear it with pride!!!

I finally got to watch the Wings on National television in HD ... and what do I see ... the refs blowing a call that was soooooo obvious it was sad.
The Wings ... down 3-2 ... score a goal in the last minute of the game.
But what's this? The refs call "NO GOAL" because Holmstrom was just outside the crease.
What I saw was a screw-job ... and the Wings should have gotten the point and an oppertunity to get the 2nd point. Ridiculous!
I'm very angry ...

The Wings were well on their way to a franchise record 9th win in a row ... and then the 3rd Period happened.
I watched the highlights of this game online (about 15 minutes worth) ... because I wanted to see how Ozzie could let in 4 goals in the 3rd.
The answer is ... the defense looked tired from being on the power play so much in the 3rd. 3 of the 4 goals he let in were defensive lapses ... and then there was an Blueline Ozzie special.
The team had to be disappointed with that loss ... but in the grand scheme of things ... it was just their 11th loss in their 56th game ...and in my books that is amazing.
Two topics here up for discussion ...
1. Did Osgood’s 3rd period scare you or shake your trust in him?
2. Who is better around the net than Zetterberg? The man just knows how to score goals.
