HEADLINE: Phil Harrison has decided to resign from his position of “Worldwide Studios President” at Sony. This is strange news after hearing that Sony has basically won the format war. Harrison has been with Sony since 1992 and Kaz Hirai will be stepping in to the vacant position.
In the eyes of the gaming world ... Harrison was that cocky Brit who starred in the many E3 Sony press conferences. In terms of what this means to you ... probably nothing. Now you’ll be listening to a Japanese guy (Harai) instead of a British guy. I love how I can break down important gaming news into such simplicity.
Here is the final statement from good ol’ Phil Harrison
“The past 15 years at Sony Computer Entertainment has been the defining journey of my life so far. I am grateful to all the PlayStation family for their incredible support, guidance and friendship. It has been a privilege to serve as part of the team and be inspired by them on a daily basis. I am so proud of everything PlayStation has achieved and will continue to support its future in every way I can.” (Courtesy of Kotaku.com)
